Better Roads, Safe Streets Coalition Applauds Senate Elections Committee Approval of AB 1923, Urges Full Legislature to Pass Bill on Thursday
The Better Roads, Safe Streets coalition released the following statement today celebrating the California Senate Elections Committee’s vote to advance Assembly Bill 1923 to the Senate floor. The bill now heads to the full Senate and Assembly for final consideration this Thursday.
“Today’s decisive action by the Senate Elections Committee is a major victory for the voters of Fresno County. By advancing AB 1923 to the Senate floor, state lawmakers are honoring the tens of thousands of voters who signed petitions demanding a direct say in our region’s transportation future this November.
We are immensely grateful to Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria and Senator Anna Caballero for their steadfast leadership in protecting the voice of local voters. As AB 1923 moves to the floor, we strongly urge members of both the Senate and Assembly to pass this urgent legislation on Thursday with the necessary two-thirds support—giving Fresno County residents the opportunity to vote this November on extending crucial local funding to fix roads, make streets safer, improve emergency response times, and keep kids safe on their way to school. “
